Dear Brethren,

We are continually thankful for those, such as you, that help us create success stories for the children here at Cherokee Home. So far this fall has been full of events. We began with ’back to school’, an exciting time for the kids, challenging many of them to truly succeed, as many do. In late September, we held our annual auction which, while a lot of work, is also a lot of fun. Many of you gave us items for the auction and many of you came to the auction to buy. At the very end of the month, we celebrated our 50th anniversary with a re dedication celebration and appropriate honors related to new improvements on our campus. It has been an exciting time.

On a different note, sometimes we just need to take care of business in our letters to you. Besides thanking you again, we wanted to ”take care of some business” in this multi-purpose letter. We have three areas that we need to quickly address.

  1. Many of you have e-mail addresses and Internet capabilities which allow you to take care of many matters from the convenience of your computers. In today's increasingly expensive world, we can send thank you acknowledgements, newsletters, and other important correspondence to you electronically much quicker and at less cost than regular mail. You may prefer this. If you do, use the slip of paper enclosed to let us know. If you have

  • any specific way that you want to hear from us, let us know on the back of the slip of paper. We will do all we can to meet your request. If you let us know once before, please accept our apologies for asking again.
  1. It took us a while, but we are now ready to accept monthly or quarterly periodic bank drafts without you having to make a special trip to your bank. We have a simple form to complete, and then we initiate the gift exactly as you request. And because the processing is in our control, we can stop and start and skip periodically, if an emergency causes the need to do so. All you have to do is call or write us and tell us what to do.

  2. In 2009, one of our goals is to get to know, even better, the wonderful people that help us help the children here. Danny Duggan, the executive director has set aside time to travel. Also, I have set aside much of the year to visit the individuals and churches that are a part of our work. In the DFW area, Brian King, as part of our development team, is prepared to speak to anyone about the work of the home. You may have questions about our needs and how to help the home now or in the future. You may just want to hear more about our kids. Whatever your wish, call us or indicate on the yellow sheet, and Danny, Delton, or Brian will quickly set up a visit with you.

Please enjoy the newsletter, accept our thanks for your part in our work, and let us hear from you.

Sincerely,

Delton R. McGuire
