SOME COMPARISONS

  1. "Thrice was I beaten with rods, once I was stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep."(II Cor. 11:25)
"Maybe we had better not go to church this morning. Looks like it might rain."

  2. "And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit."
"I don't believe I'll go to church this morning; I kinda have a headache."

  3. "Be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord." (I Cor. 15:58)
"I've been to services once this week. I don't think it's necessary to go every time."

  4. "God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
"I guess I'll have to start going to church sometime. A person really should, I suppose."

Teacher Coordinator

Bro. Rick Offill has agreed to be our teacher coordinator. He will be insuring that all people who are willing will be able to teach, as well as making sure each class has a teacher. Any questions you have about our Sunday morning Bible study classes (except the auditorium class) should be directed to him. Also, if a scheduled teacher is unable to be in class, Rick should be notified so he can get someone else to take the class.
Let's all work together to give our youngsters the best Bible training that we can possibly give them.

Mary Grimes has donated to our library a set of cassette tapes consisting of:

  1. "Journey through the Bible, Parts I, II, & III"
  2. "Why do Christians suffer"
  3. "The church of Christ and change"
  4. "The book of Revelation."

All of these tapes are by Bro. Dave Miller. Why not check them out and listen to them yourselves?

Our thanks to Mary for these tapes.

"We don't change God's message - His message changes us."

COMING EVENTS

March 9 Brother Eddie Howard will be our speaker while Bro. Hobbs is in Oklahoma conducting a Gospel meeting. Let's all be present to hear Eddie teach and preach.

March 12 Brother Eddie Howard will be with us to teach the adult Bible class.

March 30 We have been asked to furnish two dozen sandwiches to "Habitat for Humanity" workers. Be thinking about how many you can bring, and let Ed know!!!!

April 03 Lubbock Children's Home gets no money from us. They send a truck once per year to pick up donations of food or other items. This year they are asking us for 100 packages of 33 gallon trash bags. This is not much to ask of a congregation as big as ours. If we start collecting now, and everybody donates a package or two, I believe we can have 150 packages by April 3.

April 7-11 Cherokee Children's home truck will be here to pick up our fruit drinks and sweetened cereal. Let's help them out all we can.

Our thanks to Branyon May for doing such a good job leading our song services on Sunday. Branyon is also helping us get the young adult Bible class up and running. Thanks Branyon.

From the pen of JOHN HOBBS....

Strengths of Ninth & Main From Leadership Dinner

  1. We are a friendly congregation. Let us continue to be friendly (Heb. 13:2). When visitors come, we must go out of our way to welcome them and introduce ourselves! This cannot be overstated! Personally, I am not in favor of the "Madison" approach. If you are please let me know.

  2. We have strong leadership from involved elders. Our two elders and their wives do a lot of visitation and helping others.

  3. We preach and teach the Bible without apology. I preached at one congregation for a short time where I had to fight to preach the truth. That problem does not exist here. I appreciate the fact that the elders and members want the truth preached without apology.

  4. We have a good location beside the East - West throughway.

  5. We have good facilities except for the parking lot. Our auditorium and classrooms are nice and attractive.

  6. We have a very nice fellowship room to have our potluck meals. Our recent re-modeling gives us a 57% increase in seating room.

  7. We have older members that give stability to our congregation. They are very friendly to newcomers.

In Christian Love,
