What is Sunday Night?

  1. Sunday night is part of the Lord's day.

  2. It is a time that is not mine, but His, in the same sense that the Lord's day morning is His.

  3. It is further time of enjoying the glorious privilege of assembling in fellowship with the family of God to worship Him.

  4. It is a time of proving my love and loyalty to Him who died for me, in spending what some would term an extra hour with Him.

  5. It is a time of letting our light shine by doing more that the world and many in the church consider necessary.

from The Bulletin Digest

"Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt has lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? It is henceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid."
(Matthew 5:13-14)

Answer to last week's BIBLE question:

  • The Queen of Sheba traveled a great distance to meet Solomon face to face. (I Kings 10:1)

This weeks question:

  • What king placed a "Heavy yoke" of tax on Israel?

        Answer next week.

Thank You____

Dear Brothers and sisters in Christ.

Thank you so very much for the hymnal. It will bring much joy and comfort in the days to come.

I am surely blessed by such a loving church family. It is comforting to know that so many prayers go with me. Thank you again.

        In Christian Love,

/s/Gayle

Just a short reminder. We do not have a large library, but we do have a library. We have a number of reference works, a few videos, a variety of Bibles and Bible Dictionaries and some other material. You are always welcome to use whatever we have.
Also, if anyone would like to volunteer to organize and catalog what we do have, this would be a worthy project.

A lot of kneeling will keep you in good standing.
He who kneels before God can stand before anyone.

COMING EVENTS

March 9 Brother Eddie Howard will be our speaker while Bro. Hobbs is in Oklahoma conducting a Gospel meeting. Let's all be present to hear Eddie teach and preach.

March 12 Brother Eddie Howard will be with us to teach the adult Bible class.

March 30 We have been asked to furnish two dozen sandwiches to "Habitat for Humanity" workers. Be thinking about how many you can bring, and let Ed know!!!!

April 03 Lubbock Children's Home gets no money from us. They send a truck once per year to pick up donations of food or other items. This year they are asking us for 100 packages of 33 gallon trash bags. This is not much to ask of a congregation as big as ours. If we start collecting now, and everybody donates a package or two, I believe we can have 150 packages by April 3.

April 7-11 Cherokee Children's home truck will be here to pick up our fruit drinks and sweetened cereal. Let's help them out all we can.

Our thanks to Don McKee for conducting our song services on Sunday. It is always a pleasure to have him lead our singing.

From the pen of JOHN HOBBS....

Needs of Ninth & Main from Leadership Dinner!

  1. We need more involvement from every member. Attendance, visits, telephone calls - everything is important. It may seem small but every deed we do is important.

  2. We need more elders and deacons. We will start the process of putting in elders and deacons on Sunday, March 16th.

  3. We need more young people. We have started a "young adults" class and are hoping and praying this will lead to bigger and better things.

  4. We need transportation for some members to get to services. If you are willing to help, please let the elders know. We are in the process of looking for a van.

  5. We need more members who will help in the visitation program. 90% of the visits are made by 5% of the congregation.

  6. We need a bigger parking lot. Plans are in the works to enlarge our parking lot. However, we need members who are willing to park on the grassy area and in the auto parts store parking lot. We need to leave the closest parking spots to visitors. This is true every Sunday, but especially so on potluck Sundays.

  7. We need to reach out to non-members. The church that does not reach out will soon fade out!! God has called us to be fishers of men, not keepers of the aquarium! Every potluck meal has a purpose to reach out. What do you think about having a potluck meal "every" Sunday? Please give your opinion to our elders.

I have received many positive comments about our leadership dinner. This is something we will do again! I preached at a church for 14 years and we had two leadership dinners every year. I appreciate everyone's kindness and openness. Together we will sow the seed and water it and God will give the increase. (I Cor. 3:6)
