Also, on October 6th, Bro. Don McKee from the Southgate congregation will be our guest song leader. Just a reminder: On Oct. 6, if you feel you can safely do so, please try to park in one of the alternate areas (Grassy area or across the street in the "Auto Zone" lot) in order to leave the main parking lot free for our visitors. However, do not put your self at risk in order to do this.

From the pen of JOHN HOBBS.... | |
On this Sunday, October 6, we are having a potluck fellowship meal immediately following our morning services. We are also calling this "Friend's Day." Use this day to invite your friends to come. The morning sermon will deal with friends and friendship. We will be mailing out over 150 letters inviting people to come on October 5. We are expecting a large crowd. We need to be ready to feed a large crowd! We have experienced a tremendous amount of growth in a short period of time. This church will continue to grow if each and every one of us is willing to do his or her part. Every invitation, every kind word to a visitor, every dish prepared for potlucks, every visit made, every Bible Correspondence Course set up, every class taught, everything we do - - is important and vital to the growth of the church. (Matt. 10:42; I Cor. 15:58) Church growth scholars point out that members of growing churches are willing to go out of their way to make it easier for visitors. Are we willing to do this? One major concern is our parking lot. We have plenty of space in our auditorium and classrooms, but only 48-50 parking spaces. The national average is one car brings 2.5 people. We are averaging 1.8 people per car. Therefore, using simple math 50 times 1.8 is 90. (We had 94 in attendance at our4 last potluck.) We need members who are able to park on the grass which will enable our visitors to have places to park. I have talked to the auto parts store manager across from the building and he said it would be alright if some of us used their parking lot, provided we use the spaces closest to our building. One goal I feel worth pursuing is for us to enlarge our parking lot by asphalting the lots on the north side of our property. As we continue to grow, this will be a definite need. With the Lord's help, we can accomplish this goal. Soon!! Bring a friend this October 6, and expect great things to happen. In Christian Love,
